Private Family Reserve from the vineyard of Miklós Kontrás.
Rány is a famous hill shared by the neighbouring villages Olaszliska and Vámosújfalu. Originally owned by the Hunyadi family in the 15th century, it became later, in 1616, part of a charitable part in the marriage of Zsuzsanna Lorántffy (1600-1660) to György I. Rákóczi (1593-1648). Finally, the Rákóczi family became the major owner of the vineyard after the death of the prince in 1660, but also other noble families acquired lots in Rány: Bónis, Buttkay, Komoróczy, Sennyey, Solvay, Thököly and Vay. Some of them lost their property in 1670 by the Hapsburgs, after the fall of the Wesselényi conspiracy and its overthrow, and were later donated to the Jesuit convent of Ungvár. Rány was rated First Class in 1798, and mentioned as the village's principal dülö's in the famous Tokajhegyaljai Album, published in 1867.
