"István Szepsy is considered the king af sweet Tokaji makers due to the reputation gained from his extraordinary sweet concentrated wines. Only about 8.000 bottles of this Wine were produced. The clear intense and golden coloured wine has an incredibly intense spicy nose with apricote marmalade and botrytis. The 1999 vintage is known for its big acidic structure, and this Tokaji makes no exception. Crisp acidity cuts the delicately oily lusciously sweet, velvety texture. Honeyed overtones with a touch of jasmine and ginger. Very intense fruitiness and rich botrytis flavours combine with a moderate level of alcohol, all adding extra dimensions to this immortal wine. 93 Points"

"From a very good vintage, the first post-communist one, though 'not the top vintage because the nights were too cool in September and October'. Deep reddish tawny. It’s losing the protective reductive elements and looks a bit old. Still tastes very fresh with massive acidity. Not massively sweet. Dried, candied apricots! Tingly. 18/20 points."
Jancis Robinson (2010)
"Apricot, orange rind and smoky botrytis aromas and flavors dominate, but with fascinating floral, spicy and carnal notes as well. Far and away the thickest, most viscous Tokaji Aszu at the group tasting, this also shows the most intense acidity, ravishing complexity, and ultimately the most refinement and delicacy as well. Peach preserve, orange marmalade and fresh lemon, along with brown spices, woodsmoke, meat and flowers, carry almost endlessly."
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2003)
"Full deep golden caramel color. Thick unctuous viscosity. Aroma of sweet yellow fruit with hints of botrytis. Superrich unctuous sweet spicy baked apple fruit with lovely lifting acidity. Finishes forever. A great sweet dessert wine!"
