ISTVÁN SZEPSY ...
... is introducing two unique Tokaji Aszú made from Furmint grapes harvested in two carefully selected parcels of two first-class vineyards on their estate in Mád. The special features of the 2017 vintage, as well as the knowledge and experience of Szepsy’s last three decades, are revealed in these wines in a passionate but understandable way. In 2017 the combination of a lot of sunshine, cold nights and cool dawns, and appropriate precipation, had such a stimulating effect on the quality of the Furmint vines living in the Szent Tamás and Betsek vineyards of the Szepsy estate that a vintage giving lots extraordinary in all respects could manifest. In these wines significant traits of the two vineyards bring a world of flavours in an unparalleled way like never before: beautiful aromas, striking acidity and high aging potential in concentrated, elegant and lively wines.

BETSEK ...
... is located right in the middle of the valley east of Mád, so it is particularly protected with a unique microclimate. The classic small cluster Furmint vines here are over 50 years old. Outstanding from both the botanical and viticultural point of view, this fact in itself articulates the ars poetica of the Szepsy family’s viticulture. The soil of the vineyard is extremely special: a mixture of yellow clay and very soft, white weathered tuff, which give the salty, citrusy wine a strong acid structure and a tight body. Rated First Class Growth.
